WE WILL NOT VOTE COME DECEMBER 7 GENERAL ELECTION,YOUTH IN AFFORESTATION BENEFICIARIES VOICE OUT.

We the Youth in Afforestation Beneficiaries over 45,000 in numbers will not vote come December 7th General Election.

The Youth in Afforestation program was brought into existence by our President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo during the era of our deceased CEO(Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie) popularly know as “Sir John) in 2018 even before the so called Nabco arrived.

According to them, since 2018, the Youth in Afforestation program has served has contributed immensely to the development of this country as far as Climate change and other vital factors in relation to Afforestation is concerned.
The risky nature of our job has never been a problem to us ever since this program came into existence. From motor accidents to bush accidents, we have always been aggressive to serve mother Ghana.

Our dreams we cut short when, our salaries were slashed into two amidst irregular payment. We have fought our problems with many demonstrations and press releases yet, the government and Forestry Commission have not bothered to intervene.

Petitions upon petitions have been sent across but our efforts have proven futile.
What ate us up was the slashing down of our hard earned allowances into two because of Nabco.

The Forestry Commission sent us a letter indicating, our allowance has been reduced from 1200 to 700 and the reason for such improvement was that Nabco beneficiaries are degree and HnD holders just like some of us in Youth in Afforestation so they are going to pay us like Nabco. Even though HnD holders in Nabco are receiving 700 cedis allowance in Nabco, HnD holders in Afforestation are being paid 600 cedis. It very sad the Forestry Commission has refused to tell us why they aligned us with Nabco yet we are not enjoying condition of service just as the Nabco beneficiaries.

Both the NPP and NDC have didn’t talk about us in their manifesto but the government keeps riding of our achievements during occasions.

Now were hear the government has made some of the Nabco beneficiaries permanent and is about to increase their allowances.

The government has decided to forget us because we are graduates who work in the bush. Even our field assistants who have no degrees or certificates need to be recognized because the nature of our work is very hectic and risky.

There is no policy on our job that is shielding its continuity. Even during accidents and other occupational hazards, we are not protected by any policy.

We humbly call for the government to intervene before the worst happens. We are over 45,000 and we have decided not to vote during the impending general elections this year, 2020 until the government tackles the issue of permanency, regular payment, increment in allowance just as Nabco and finally, a policy should be placed on our job.
