3 year old girl defiled by Teacher

A 3-year old girl has been allegedly defiled by a 34-year-old teacher in Gwembe District Southern Province.

The teacher identified as Chapas Simukoko is married but was alone at home at the time of the incident which the mother (his work mate) to the defiled girl did not know.

Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident which left the toddler with bruised private parts.

“The incident was reported to Gwembe Police Station on December 14, 2022 around 07:40 hours in which a teacher reported on behalf of her daughter aged three years that she was defiled by Simukoko aged 34 years of Gwembe township.

“The victim sustained bruises and complained of painful private parts.

“This occurred between 12th and 13th December, 2022 at about 15:00 hours and 07:00 hours,” Mwale said.

He said a docket has since been opened and a Medical Report Form 32 was issued.

“Brief facts of the matter are that the suspect and the complainant (mother to the toddler) have been friends and their children are used to them all.

“On 12th December, 2022 at about 15:00 hours the suspect went to the home of the complainant where he was invited for lunch.

“After having lunch, the victim cried wanting to go with the suspect to his house which the mother who is the complainant allowed.

“The suspect picked the victim to his home where she spent a night with him until the following morning on 13th December 2022 when she was taken back to her mother.

“Later, the complainant discovered that her daughter screamed when she was being bathed, the mother physically inspected her on the private parts and further discovered that the private parts had bruises from inside.

“The mother reported the matter to police and later took her daughter to Gwembe Hospital were she was further examined and the medical report form is consistent.

The suspect is in police custody,” Mwale said

The father to the girl, a health worker, was out of the district at the time of the incident.

The mother to the victim further narrated that even after reporting the incidence to social welfare department she was told they could not do anything until the police informed them.

However, after she persisted a social welfare officer accused her of tackling the matter all by herself.

She said she was also warned by some Gwembe police officer to be careful as money had exchanged hands and that a house was being offered to her if she withdrew the matter from police.

She also narrated that sensing bribery, she decided to report the matter to Monze police.

“I was told that Simukoko had accepted that he had offended me and that what he did was unforgivable.

“That it was beyond forgiveness but that at the end if the day the girl had already been messed up and even if I got him into jail there was nothing I was going to gain.

‘I was told police, social welfare and courts were consulted and that I should just pull down the complaint and give them any condition humane possible.

“I was told that even if I went to NGOs I would still lose the case as NGO leaders were also humans who can be bribed,” she said.
