C/R: Chief accuses Mfantseman MP, MCE of causing financial loss, threaten to haul them to court

Acting President for Nkusukum Traditional Area in the Central Region, Nana Kwesi Brebo III has threatened to drag the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Ophelia Mensah Heyford, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Ike Lord Enu to court for causing financial loss to the state.

According to Nana Kwesi Brebo III who’s also Chief of Kunsu, the MP and MCE have failed to complete some roads in his area which were under construction leaving them to deteriorate, resulting in what he believes is causing financial loss to the State.

He said the road leading to his Community from the Mankessim to Cape Coast Highway was awarded for construction by John Mahama’s administration which work was ongoing until President Akuffo Addo’s government took over.

Nana Kwesi Brebo III, noted that the road was about 75 percent completed but has now been abandoned leaving it to deteriorate, adding that all monies sunk into the project has gone to waste.

He served notice he will drag the MP and MCE to court if work is not continued on the road as soon as possible.

Nana Kwesi Brebo III, observed that since the Nana Akuffo Addo’s government took over as the ruling party not a single branch road in the Mfantseman Municipality has been constructed, a situation which is worrying to him as an acting President for the Nkusukum Traditional Area.

The Kuntu Community is a salt mining area and its road need to be constructed for easy accessibility.

Meanwhile, speaking in an interview with GHONE News, Yaw Boagyan, the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency Hon. Ophelia Mensah Heyford said, as of now, no state agency has agreed to fund the construction of the road for the community.

She said she is still in consultation with agencies such as GNPC to come to their aid.

According to her, the road was under construction when she took over as the MP but can’t really tell what happened for the contractor to pack his equipment from the site leaving the road to deteriorate.

She assured the people of Kuntu she will work hard and ensure the road is constructed before the end of 2023.
