Trucks of yam locally known as “bayer3” have arrived at the Ministry of Agriculture amidts the high cost of foodstuffs. The price hikes which the Minister, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie describes as insensitivity from the retailers to make exhaubitant profit from consumers was evident as the ministry began to sell foodstuffs, especially crops initially with plantain at cheap prices as low as five Ghana cedis.
Today, the ministry has brought in another set of crops, yam and sale continues from tomorrow Monday 14th November, 2022 and will be sold at very affordable prices for the ordinary Ghanaians.
The said foodstuffs, from several sources we believe are from the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative of the President and the Minister.
Ghanaians are expected to throng the ministry from tomorrow to purchase the cheap yams possibly for as low as 5 cedis per tuber so everyone can afford.
