ASHANTI REGION TO GET 5 NEW INTERCHANGES AS ROADS MINISTER SATISFIED WITH PROGRESS OF ROAD PROJECTS IN THE REGION.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Akwasi Amoako Atta has disclosed government’s intention to construct five new interchanges in Greater Kumasi to help ease traffic situation in the metropolis.

According to him, the interchanges are part of government’s efforts to ensuring that Ashanti region gets its fair share of the national cake.


Speaking at a media encounter in kumasi as part of his one-day working tour of the Ashanti region, Mr. Amoako Atta revealed that the interchanges would be constructed at Santasi, Ahodwo, Oforikrom, Suame and Bekwai roundabouts.

Touching on ongoing road projects, the Minister gave the assurance that ongoing road projects in the Ashanti region would be given a greater push to ensure their timely completion.

He noted that already, 214 different road projects were under construction in the Ashanti region and assured the public of government commitment in ensuring the full completion of all ongoing roads in the region.

“Ashanti region means a lot to the ruling NPP government therefore the region will never be shortchanged as far as road projects are concerned ” He indicated.

The Roads and Highways Minister is in the Ashanti region mainly to inspect the progress of work on the construction of some road projects in the region.

The Minister who inspected the construction of some critical roads in the Greater Kumasi including Sofoline- Abuakwa, Ahodwo Daaban- Trede, Asokwa- Bosomtwe among others expressed satisfaction to work done so far by the contractors.

On his part, Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti regional Minister expressed gratitude to Nana Akuffo Addo for tireless effort towards the development of Ashanti region.

He expressed optimism that all ongoing road projects in the Ashanti region would be timely completed to ease congestion on the roads.
