The Asokore Mampong District Court earlier issued arrest warrants for 62 persons suspected to be involved in the recent violence on the KNUST campus
One more suspect linked to the recent disturbances at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been arrested following a bench warrant issued for the arrest of all suspects.
The Asokore Mampong District Court earlier issued arrest warrants for 62 persons suspected to be involved in the recent violence on the KNUST campus.
This brings the total number of students arrested to six out of the 62, with two on bail and four in remand.
The Asokore Mampong District Court presided over by Her Ladyship Hilda Esther Wryter (esq) on 4 October 2022 remanded the 6th accused person together with the three others into police custody.
The three suspects Emmanuel Appiah Amoah, Eugene Noamesi and Kwabena Kwarteng Amaniampong together with the 6th suspect are to remain in police custody until the next adjourned date.
This was after prosecution led by ACP Kofi Blajodzie withdrew the old charge sheet and substituted it with a new one, based on the fact that a new arrest has been made.
The case has been adjourned to 13 October 2022.
Lawyer for the sixth accused person, Elvis Ofori Asante has expressed his disappointment at the rejection of his client’s bail application.
Ofori Asante said he will be take from his client on whether to move to the High Court for a bail application.
