Trader allegedly commits suicide over broken heart

A 40-year-old trader identified as Nana Sammy has allegedly committed suicide by drinking a full bottle of weedicide.

The unfortunate incident is said to have happened at Assin Kyinaso in the Assin South District of the Central Region, on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

According to the information at hand, the deceased, a trader had misunderstandings with his wife who eventually left the marriage with their children.

The deceased who could not handle the situation with hopelessness thought death is a preferable solution to the predicaments he was engulfed with.

Mr Gyamfi, a brother of the deceased in an interview with Angel News Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack, explained that he had spoken with the deceased a night before and had disclosed to him his unhappiness since his wife left the marriage with the children.

He added that on Wednesday morning his distraught brother called to inform him that he would embark on his usual trek to purchase the items he sells.

But to his surprise, he did not receive any feedback from his brother on whether he had left. Mr Gyamfi, therefore, decided to pass by to check on him only to meet the deceased in a pool of vomit and faeces, lying prostrate.

“So, I approached him only for him to mention my name and said brother, I have taken in poison…and I asked him why he took such decision, he replied that the woman is worrying me and had left me with the children and therefore he cannot accept the pain anymore…” the deceased brother accounted.

The deceased was rushed to Abura Dunkwa Government Hospital where he passed on.

He however stressed that the doctors are yet to confirm to them whether their brother died of the poison or something else.

The matter has since been reported to the Abura Dunkwa Police Command for investigation.
