Hundreds of women from Asisiriwa and nearby communities in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, thronged the Asisiriwa Community Centre to participate in a free breast screening and health empowerment program organized by Mrs. Mary Boateng, an aspiring Constituency Women Organizer.

The well-attended event, themed “Healthy Women, Stronger Communities,” sought to create awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, and encourage women to prioritize their health. It also formed part of Mrs. Boateng’s broader vision to empower women with knowledge, access to quality healthcare, and opportunities that strengthen their role in community development.

Medical professionals from various health institutions were on hand to conduct thorough breast examinations and offer counseling sessions. Participants also benefited from health education on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental wellness, and preventive healthcare. The health team emphasized the importance of regular screening as an effective way to detect breast cancer early, noting that early intervention saves lives.

In an address to the gathering, Mrs. Mary Boateng expressed her joy at the massive turnout and commended the women for making their health a priority. She explained that the initiative was born out of her passion for the wellbeing of women and her desire to serve as a catalyst for positive change within the constituency.

“This program is not just about health screening; it’s about reminding every woman here that she matters — her health, her happiness, and her contribution to society matter. When women are healthy and empowered, entire families and communities thrive,” Mrs. Boateng said to loud applause.

She noted that many women, especially in rural communities, often face challenges accessing quality healthcare due to cost and limited facilities. As such, she promised to continue organizing similar initiatives across the Bosomtwe Constituency to ensure that every woman, regardless of background or location, receives the support she needs.

“If given the mandate to serve as Constituency Women Organizer, I will not stop here. I will continue to bring programs that are relevant, practical, and life-changing to women in every corner of this constituency,” she added.

The event also featured a motivational session that encouraged women to take leadership roles in community and family development. Mrs. Boateng used the occasion to outline her vision of a constituency where women are seen, heard, and supported to reach their full potential.

Several participants expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, describing the event as both educational and life-transforming. Madam Evelyn Danso, one of the beneficiaries, said the screening had opened her eyes to the importance of regular health check-ups.

“Most of us cannot afford these medical tests, so what Mrs. Boateng has done today is a true blessing. It shows that she truly cares about the welfare of women,” Madam Danso stated.

Health officers present also commended Mrs. Boateng for her leadership and initiative, stressing that such community-driven health programs go a long way in reducing late-stage breast cancer cases and improving women’s overall wellbeing.

The program concluded with a heartfelt pledge from Mrs. Boateng to remain dedicated, accessible, and action-oriented in addressing the needs of women in the Bosomtwe Constituency.

“I’m not just asking for your vote — I’m showing you what I stand for. Together, we can build a future where women are healthy, confident, and empowered to lead change,” she affirmed.

The success of the Asisiriwa health outreach has since been hailed as a shining example of community leadership in action. Through her compassion, vision, and commitment, Mrs. Mary Boateng continues to inspire hope and unity among women — proving that empowered women are indeed the foundation of stronger families, stronger communities and a stronger Bosomtwe District.
