50-Year-Old Mason Brutally Murdered in Suspected Ritual Attack at Domeabra

A gruesome suspected ritual murder has shattered the peace of Domeabra Old Town in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, leaving residents terrified and calling for swift government and police intervention.
The victim, identified only by his popular nickname “Taller”, a 50-year-old mason, was discovered dead under horrifying circumstances inside an uncompleted building where he lived. His mutilated body, found in a pool of blood, had several parts missing — a clear indication, according to police, of a ritualistic killing.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the deceased was attacked by unknown assailants who deliberately harvested specific body parts. The brutality of the act and the precision of the mutilation have fueled suspicions that the killing was carried out for ritual or spiritual purposes commonly referred to in local parlance as “juju”.
According to the Assemblyman for Domeabra Electoral Area, Hon. Joseph Akrashie, who has been liaising closely with the police, the discovery has left the entire community in shock.
“Taller is well-known and respected in this community. He’s been living here for years as a mason. To wake up to news of his death in such a horrific manner is beyond comprehension,” Hon. Akrashie said in an interview with choicenewsonline.com correspondent Kofi Adjei.
He disclosed that the police’s preliminary examination revealed the extent of the brutality inflicted on the deceased.
“Investigations by the police indicate that the suspects cut the deceased’s left heel and thigh and removed all the veins in that part,” the Assemblyman revealed.
The extracted body parts, according to investigators, appear to have been carefully removed using sharp objects, further supporting suspicions that the perpetrators were skilled and intentional in their actions.
The Ghana Police Service Homicide Unit has since taken over the case and transported the body to the Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra for autopsy. The postmortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death, the time it occurred, and provide forensic evidence that could aid in identifying the killers.
Police sources say they are pursuing several leads and have intensified patrols in the area, though no arrests have been made at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, fear and panic have gripped residents of Domeabra and adjoining communities, many of whom say they now live in fear of possible attacks. Some have called for enhanced security presence and community vigilance to prevent further incidents.
“We don’t sleep peacefully anymore. We don’t know who might be the next target. Government and the IGP must intervene immediately,” a frightened resident told reporters.
Another resident described the incident as a “wake-up call” for the authorities to prioritize safety in semi-urban communities like Domeabra, where incomplete buildings and bushy areas often serve as hideouts for criminals.
The Ga South Municipal Police Command has assured the public that it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The police are urging anyone with credible information to come forward and assist with investigations.
As investigations continue, the tragic death of Taller has reignited national concern over ritual-related killings and the urgent need for collective community and governmental action to curb the menace.
