5 Robbers Killed In Gun Battle with Residents at Denkyera Akwaboso

 

Five (5) suspected armed robbers have been shot dead in a gun battle with some residents of Denkyera Akwaboso in the Denkyera Diaso District of the Central Region.

The incident happened today Friday, September 3, 2021.

Diaso District Police Commander ASP Ernest Aggyekum told Correspondent Hamza Mohammed that police had information that five armed robbers invaded the community amidst firing of sporadic gunshots in an attempt to rob some gold dealers in the area but the residents mobilized and engaged the robbers in a fierce gun battle which four(4) of the robbers were gunned down instantly but one was in critical condition from gunshot wounds.

He said police rushed to the community to convey the victim and the bodies of the deceased Suspects to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

“Residents called the police and informed them that armed robbers have been tormenting them always and upon their investigations they got to know that these rubbers do rub Gold buyers over there every day. He added that luck eluded the 5 of the Suspects were killed instantly during an exchange of firearm” Hamza Mohammed reported.

He said the bodies of 5 suspected armed robbers have been deposited in the Bibiani mortuary for more investigations.

Ghana is experiencing rampant armed robbery cases in many parts of the country compelling the Acting Inspector General of Police George Akufo Dampare to dispatch an Anti-Armed robbery task force to the Eastern Region, Western North, and other areas notorious for the robbery menace.
