Bole clashes: National Security Minister meets Bolewura, other stakeholders

National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, has urged the chiefs and people of Bole in the Savannah Region to uphold the peace and security in the area.

Addressing the people following a confusion between the military and some illegal miners in the area, the Minister called for collaboration between the key stakeholders.

“I am here because of three key things that border on security. The issues of chieftaincy and ethnic disputes, the issues of terrorism and its associated issues and the need for collaboration between security agencies and traditional authorities to maintain and consolidate the peace and security of Bole and the Savannah Region at large.”

“A lot has happened between the security and residents which has affected the peace of the area. I want to assure you that my ministry is working to address the impasse to forestall peace,”he assured.

He intimated that the issues of violence extremism are glaring and will need collaborative efforts to overcome.

“This is not the time to be fighting ourselves. This is the time to unite and fight the people who want to destroy our peace as a nation and that’s why we introduced the ‘see something, say something’ initiative to identify possible threats,” he said.

On peaceful elections, the Minister appealed to the residents to maintain peace before, during and after the 2024 elections.

“Ghana is an epitome of democracy in the sub region, and we cannot allow the 2024 elections to ruin our hard-earned reputation in the world,” Mr Dapaah stated.

Bolewura Safo Kutugefeso for his part applauded the Minister for taking keen interest in the security of the people of Bole.

“I am happy you are here today to listen to our security concerns, and I want to assure you that we are all on the alert on the issues of the insurgents and we remain committed to ensuring that the security of this area is maintained. “

“We are the same people and will do everything humanly possible to ensure a peaceful election,“ he assured.
