The Nkurakan Health Centre is currently in a very deplorable state as the facility needs total renovation and improvement to help in the discharge of its healthcare delivery responsibilities to the residents in the catchment areas.
The Nkurakan Health Centre in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern region is strategically positioned to address the health needs of the residents from the numerous surrounding communities. However, the current state of the facility which records close about thousand OPD cases is not the best and upfront to quality health care delivery as erosions has washed deep under the building leaving it hanging which if anything is done about it could lead to potential future collapse. The Physician Assistant in charge of the facility, Peace Eyiram Tepreh revealed that, when it rains, the nurses at the facility has to scoop water from the entire building before they can continue with their work, this among several other challenges which she believed that needed to be fixed as early as possible to be able to continue to deliver quality health care to the people in the catchment areas.
The Convener of the Concern Nkurakan Citizens, Ebenezer Tetteh Abrokwa who has taken it upon himself to advocate for support to help address the challenges confronting the facility said, according to the workers there are problems facing the health centre and that, is the citizens of the area take it up to help put the facility at a befittig level since no one knows where he may find him or herself in case of sickness.
The Assembly member of Nkurakan, Emmanuel Tetteh Kwao also reiterated the deplorable state of the health centre added his voice to the call for the citizens and other well wishes to come on board and support the facility.
