The Non-governmental Organization named Developing Woman for Skills and Opportunities Initiative (DWOSO) has facilitated a sensitization program for girls prefects and their assistants within Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region on International day of girl child with the theme: Invest in girls rights our leadership our well-being at the lunch of Ring Leaders Program.
The program aimed at grooming and monitoring young girls for effective leadership roles.
The Gender Desk Officer also Assistant Director Sekyere East District Assembly of the Ashanti Region Mrs Beatrice Antwiwaa who’s a communities outreach lead for Developing Woman for Skills and Opportunities Initiative (DWOSO) advised them to abstain from drugs and alcohol and bad attitudes that will eventually results negatively affect their fortunes in education, and avoid from sexual intercourse which lead to teenage pregnancy, child marriage and child labour.
Mrs Beatrice Antwiwaa ceased the opportunity to admonish the female ward to shun all other things that could have negative effect on their education, be very vigilante and concentrate on your studies, stick to their books learn hard to help them be responsible and better person in future.
The Sekyere East District Girl child co-ordinator mad. Jacqueline Sarfo expressed her outmost view and advice parents to take into consideration the education of their female wards very seriously to reduce the high rate of teenage pregnancy, child marriage, discrimination, child labour among Female ward in the country.
Mad. Jacqueline Sarfo started that it is time for parents and guardians to ensure that their female wards education is well catered for, focus and invest in girl child education.
She emphasized the need to promote girl child education in the country, most of girls in our communities face a lot of challenges with regard to formal education although they are very brilliant and can fit into any formal sector when given them the right opportunities.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to the media lauded DWOSO for facilitate this program to educate them to brighter their future and it will benefit themselves and their families.
