General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Fifi Kwetey has said that the entire country is the stronghold of the party whereas the governing New Patriotic Patriotic relies on two regions.
He says the NDC will campaign across to get more votes in all the regions because they believe all parts of the country are suffering under the present administration
Speaking on the Hot Issues on TV3 on Sunday, June 30, he said “We believe the whole country is our stronghold as against NPP who are depending on two regions.”
Regarding the selection of Energy Minister and Manhyia South Lawmaker Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh as running mate to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Fifi Kwetey said the NDC is not worried.
To Fifi Kwetey, Dr Opoku Prempeh is not one to be afraid of going into the elections this year because he could not work up to expectations at the Energy Ministry.
“NDC not panicking because of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as running mate, he couldn’t even resolve the power situation,” he said on the Hot Issues on TV3 Sunday June 30.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has presented Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
“NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia last night met President Akufo-Addo to formally inform him about his choice for running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
“He will meet the Council of Elders to formally inform them about his choice by the close of the week, the announcement is likely to be made close of the week or early next month,” Media General’s presidential correspondent Nana Kwaku Adua reported on Wednesday, June 26.
This news comes at a time when a survey done by the National Investigation Bureau tipped Dr Opoku Prempeh to be the running mate.
The survey engaged 5,116 NPP delegates nationwide, including national, regional, constituency, and polling station executives.
According to the study, Dr Opoku Prempeh secured 76.2% of the responses from executives polled.
