The suspects Isaac Amponsah, a.k.a Silicone, and Domnic Appiah a.k.a Apeatus aged 20 years respectively are expected to reappear in court on 2Oth January 2022 to enable the police to carry out further investigation into the matter.

Background

It will be recalled that Rich Fm and Angel Fm/TV Reporter Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack reported that on Thursday 22nd December 2022 at about 10 am, two youth factions from Adansi Praso and Assin Praso engaged in fierce fighting amidst rooting with offensive weapons.

The weapon used includes locally manufactured guns, clubs, cutlasses, and iron bars at the Assin Praso market square resulting in fear and panic among market women and passers.

A team of Police officers from Assin Praso led by the Station Officer, Chief Inspector Bukari Iddrisu Iddi upon receiving the information rapidly responded to the scene but unfortunately, the rioters took to their heels and dodged into nearby thickets and unlocated hideouts.

However, two of the rioters, Isaac Amponsah, a.k.a Silicone, and Domnic Appiah, a.k.a Apeatus aged 20 years respectively who sustained various degrees of injuries were subsequently arrested at the Adansi Ataasi government hospital where they were receiving treatment.

Both were arraigned before the District Court, Assin Foso for the offenses of rioting with offensive weapons and Unlawful Assembly.

They were therefore remanded into police custody to reappear in Court on the 20th of January 2023 for further determination.

Meanwhile, the police have assured that efforts are underway by the Assin Praso police command to locate the hideous of their accomplices to face the full rigors of the law to deter others from engaging in similar offenses.

It’s Worthy of note that the same youth factions have terrorized the area a couple of years ago leading to the death of one young man from Adansi Praso.

The Assin Praso District Command under the leadership of DSP Moses Osakunor has vowed to fish out all the perpetrators to bring sanity to the area as they have intensified day and night patrols.
