Mobile Money Vendor Shot By Armed Robbers At Kasoa

 

A 25-year-old mobile money vendor is in critical condition after suspected armed men attacked him at Kasoa Big Man Town near Poolside Hotel in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

The three robbers armed with pump action guns and a pistol attacked the victim, Kelvin Nii Kpakpo while doing his everyday transactions around 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

They took away an undisclosed amount of money.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants, aged 18 -20 years,s were firing indiscriminately, resulting in a bullet hitting the victim, seriously injuring him in the process.

He was subsequently rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital,l where he is currently receiving treatment.

Fortunately, images of the robbers were captured by CCTV cameras at the Hote,l which could lead to their arrest.

Meanwhile, the case has been reported to the Kasoa Police Station for investigation.

Mobile money vendors have been victims of armed robbery attacks for years as criminals see them as easy prey.

On December 8, 2022, armed robbers shot a mobile money vendor, Ebenezer Amoaquandoh, at Gomoa Akotsi in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region and bolted with GH¢30,000.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 9:00 pm at the Gomoa Akotsi Lorry Station moments after the vendor locked his shop and was about to set off to his house.

One of the armed robbers with a pump action gun shot his left thigh while the other hit his head with a sharp object.

Ebenezer was subsequently rushed to the Winneba Trauma Hospital, where he was treated.

May 26, 2020

On May 26 2020, a 30-year-old mobile money vendor was shot dead at Kyobariyiri in the Jirapa municipality of the Upper West Region by armed men, who attacked and robbed him on his way home from work.

The deceased, Emmanuel Baba-Ennawuori, was pronounced dead at the Jirapa Hospital, where he was rushed after sustaining gunshot wounds.

A mobile money vendor, identified as Oldman Stephen, was killed by suspected armed robbers in his room at Choribang, a suburb of Bole in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.

The incident happened at about 10:30 pm, and the victim was rushed to the Bole Government Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival following the severe gunshot wounds he suffered.

September 12, 2019

A mobile money vendor was allegedly killed by his friend at Gomoa Nyanyarno in the Central region.

The deceased, whose name was given as Joseph Koomson, was stabbed three times and died on the spot.

The victim’s family said he confronted the suspect, who attempted to steal his money, resulting in a fight.

September 4, 2019

Fuseini Inusah, 29, a mobile money vendor, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.

The incident occurred at about 8.45 pm when the victim returned from work. The assailants left one locally manufactured gun at the scene.
